Star Wars: The Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 8 Easter Eggs Explained

Siege of Mandalore

The Siege of Mandalore arc is the next big arc of season 7 and its grand finale. It’s also one of those classic cases of jumpy The Clone Wars chronology. It occurs after both the previous fight between Maul and Sidious on Mandalore and the comic Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir.

Since we last saw him on The Clone Wars, Maul returned to his homeworld of Dathomir, fought General Grievous, and witnessed Darth Sidious kill Mother Talzin. Totally divorced from the idea of ever being Sidious’ ally again, Maul returns to Mandalore before the siege begins.

The events of the battle were alluded to in the novel Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston, but they will be much more fleshed out on the show. This battle is also notable as one of the very last in the Clone Wars and the battle actually leads right into Order 66 and the rise of the Empire in Revenge of the Sith.

Trandoshans

The manager of the spice depot is a Trandoshan, a reptilian alien species that appears often in the Original Trilogy. The most famous is the bounty hunter Bossk, who debuted in The Empire Strikes Back. His flattened, reptilian face and large, clawed hands became the hallmark for the species. Unlike Bossk, the depot manager wears shoes that cover his clawed feet.
