Let’s all let out a resounding NINE-NIIIINE!
After saving Brooklyn Nine-Nine at the 11th hour when Fox canceled the beloved series after five seasons, NBC has announced that the series will return for a second year on the network for Season 7 of the series.
Created by Michael Schur and Dan Goor, Brooklyn Nine-Nine stars Andy Samberg as Brooklyn detective Jake Peralta, and features a deep bench of supporting characters played by Melissa Fumero, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, and Andre Braugher.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 Trailer
The trailer for Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 will have those of a certain generation instinctively reaching for the tracking button with its VHS-style ’80s theme. However, gimmick aside, the footage shows a new dynamic with a demoted Holt (per the culmination of the Season 6 finale,) hitting the streets with Peralta and the rest of the Nine-Nine bullpen.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 Release Date
Brooklyn Nine-Nine premieres on NBC on Thursday, February 6 at 8/7c.
While the mid-season arrival threw a wrench in the planning for the series’ classic Halloween Heist episodes, Season 6 found a creative way to circumvent that issue.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 Episodes
During NBC’s upfront calls in May, network executives revealed that Season 7 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will consist of 13 episodes. If that sounds like a short order, don’t be too concerned; NBC originally ordered 13 episodes for the show’s sixth season before bumping that order up to 18 episodes. When the show aired on Fox, seasons would routinely consist of 22-23 episodes. Perhaps a shorter episode order could lead to more lightly serialized stories, but something tells us more than 13 episodes will air during Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 7 Details
Season 6 of the series performed well for NBC, averaging 3.9 million total viewers in the “live plus seven day” Nielsen ratings. More impressively, it has derived 45% of its “live plus seven day digital” Nielsen ratings from non-linear (a.k.a. not live on television) sources, the highest percentage among NBC shows. That made a renewal for NBC a no-brainer, as the network continues to establish a more robust online presence among news that NBCUniversal, —the Comcast Corp. division that owns NBC, MSNBC, USA and the Universal Pictures movie studio—is planning to launch their own streaming service.
“It’s been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life,” said Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment. “Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York’s finest into New York’s funniest.”
