Cyberpunk 2077 Boss Promises 75 “Customized” Side Quests

Games

John Mamais, the boss of CD Projekt Red’s Krakow studio, has been chatting about the number of side-quests you’ll be able to experience in Cyberpunk 2077. Since this is the next game from the team that brought us The Witcher games, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there will be quite a lot of optional side quests to tackle.

In an interview with ONMSFT, Mamais revealed that the team working on open-world elements in Cyberpunk 2077 is significantly larger than the one that developed such things for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. While the latest Witcher game only had “two or three people” working on those elements, Cyberpunk 2077 apparently has “15 people doing these open-world quests.”

As for what these open-world interactive elements will consist of, Mamais explains, “There’s a couple of layers” to the side quests in Cyberpunk 2077. “There’s a passive layer, which is the vendors, then there’s the STSs, which are the street stories. I think there’s around 75 street stories. Then there’s minor activities as well.”

Mamais added, “The street stories are like little quests. There’s story but there’s not, like, advanced cinematic storytelling sequences so much. They’re a way to explore the world and level-up your character.”

Asked if these quests are procedurally generated, Mamais was quick to clarify that they’re not. “They’re all custom done,” he explained. “There’s nothing like that that’s automatically generated. There are set templates that the guys can use but each one is customized to make them feel unique. The world’s going to be filled with that stuff. It should feel really good.”

Having 75 specially-made “street stories” to dip into certainly makes it sound like Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be massive. The game’s release date has recently been delayed, though, so you’ll have to wait a little bit longer than expected to get involved with these quests.
