Netflix reached over 200 million paid subscribers in 2020 thanks to the pandemic, with most of the growth coming from outside the US.
“Despite COVID-19, Netflix had a good 2020. At the end of last year, the company passed a milestone by reaching over 200 million paid subscribers. The pandemic and the ensuing stay-at-home orders helped Netflix add a record 37 million new subscribers during the year, a 31% annual increase from 2019.”

Television hasn’t been a much better home for the horror master’s stories either (with some debatable exceptions), but it still may come as a huge surprise that the best Stephen King adaptation in years is barely a King story at all.”
CBS All Access is being rebranded and relaunched as Paramount+, with content from all of ViacomCBS’s cable channels.
“Discovery+ may have just launched earlier in January, but—in the cord-cutting age of TV that we’re in—it was only a matter of time before yet another streaming service would come along. Paramount+, a streaming service from ViacomCBS, is the latest of the bunch, set to launch in the US on March 4.”
Wonka, Warner Bros’ prequel movie to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, is reportedly still in the work.
“Deadline reports that Wonka—a prequel to Roald Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory that we first heard about all the way back in 2016—is still very much in play, so much so that Warner Bros. has even scheduled a release date of March 17, 2023. Which is kind of wild when you consider the current state of film releases.”
