Overwatch 2 is real and it turns out that many of the rumors surrounding the game were true.
First off, the biggest draw of Overwatch 2 will indeed be PvE content. Overwatch 2 will feature a series of co-op, story-based missions that will seemingly focus on the Overwatch team getting back together to fight a variety of foes. Blizzard hasn’t revealed the full details of this new mode, but it will take players across various maps in order to complete a variety of story-based objectives. Players will need to work together and use their characters’ various skills to overcome some daunting challenges.
Speaking of skills, it sounds like Overwatch 2 will indeed introduce a new character skills system that will allow players to acquire new and upgraded skills for their favorite heroes. It sounds like this mode will affect the PvE content, but it’s less clear at this time exactly how it will work in terms of PvP gameplay. We’ll see how that goes, though.
PvP-wise, Overwatch 2 will introduce new maps, new heroes, and new modes to the game. We know that Toronto will be one of those new maps, that Sojourn will be one of those new heroes, and that Push (which seems to be a competitive mode that sees players battle over the same “cart”) will be one of those new modes. Blizzard has stated that more modes, heroes, and maps are on the way, but they haven’t revealed the full details regarding that content at this time.

Actually, it’s worth noting that Overwatch 2 isn’t a traditional sequel. If you already own Overwatch, you’ll be able to access all of Overwatch 2‘s new maps, heroes, and modes. It really sounds like it’s just the PvE content that will be limited to the new game (and perhaps certain cosmetics). Again, though, it appears that the details are still being worked out.
Overall, this is an exciting new direction for Overwatch 2 that won’t leave old fans behind. We can’t wait to hear more about Overwatch 2 as we near its unconfirmed release date.
